Modesto Veterans Day Parade Participation and Vendor Waiver Acknowledgement

As the point of contact for my organization's participation in the Modesto Veterans Day Parade, whether as a parade participant or a vendor, I hereby acknowledge and agree to the following on behalf of all participants in my group:

  1. Assumption of Risk: I understand that participation in the Modesto Veterans Day Parade, whether as a parade participant or vendor, involves certain risks, including but not limited to physical activity, interaction with the public, and environmental factors. My organization and its participants assume full responsibility for any risks of injury, harm, or property damage that may arise during the event.

  2. Waiver and Release: By signing this waiver, I, on behalf of my organization and its participants, release, waive, discharge, and hold harmless the Modesto Veterans Day Parade Committee, the City of Modesto, its employees, officials, volunteers, sponsors, and affiliates from any and all liability, claims, or damages arising from participation in the parade or as a vendor, whether caused by negligence or otherwise.

  3. Compliance with Event Rules and Regulations: I agree that all participants in my group will follow all safety instructions, parade rules, vendor regulations, and directions from event organizers, officials, and the City of Modesto. This includes adhering to all applicable local, state, and federal laws and maintaining any necessary permits and licenses. Failure to comply may result in disqualification, removal from the event, or other penalties.

  4. Medical Emergencies: In the event of a medical emergency, I authorize the Modesto Veterans Day Parade Committee, event organizers, and the City of Modesto to seek necessary medical treatment for any participant in my group. I acknowledge that all medical expenses are the responsibility of the individual participant or their legal guardians.

  5. Insurance Coverage: I understand that the Modesto Veterans Day Parade Committee and the City of Modesto do not provide personal, group, or property insurance for participants or vendors. It is the responsibility of each participant or vendor to carry appropriate insurance coverage, including general liability and property damage insurance.

  6. Property Responsibility: I acknowledge that my organization is responsible for safeguarding our equipment, merchandise, and materials throughout the event. The Modesto Veterans Day Parade Committee and the City of Modesto are not liable for any loss, theft, or damage to participant or vendor property.

  7. Indemnification: I agree to indemnify and hold harmless the Modesto Veterans Day Parade Committee and the City of Modesto from any claims, losses, damages, or expenses arising from our participation in the parade or as a vendor.

  8. Photo/Video Release: I grant permission for photos or videos of my organization's participation in the parade or vendor activities to be taken during the event and used for promotional purposes by the Modesto Veterans Day Parade Committee and the City of Modesto without compensation.

By signing below, I acknowledge that I have read, understood, and agreed to the terms of this waiver on behalf of my group. I also confirm that I am authorized to act on behalf of my organization.

These rules were established to help the parade move as efficiently as possible and to make the parade route a safer environment for those watching and for participants.

Violation of any of these rules will disqualify an entry from being judged.

Please listen and abide by any instruction given to you by the parade marshal anywhere on the parade route. Their job is to help move the parade through as quickly as possible. Be prepared to stop and move at any given moment.

State law prohibits throwing of anything from your float.

Items and/or brochures may be handed out along the parade route, at curbside, if prior approval is obtained from the parade committee.

Once you enter the line of march, there is ABSOLUTELY NO STOPPING for any reason, unless instructed by a parade marshal.

Entries that stop in front of the judges’ stand or anywhere else along the parade route to perform, etc., may be disqualified for an award.

Consumption or possession of alcoholic beverages or other controlled substances is forbidden for any participant.

HELMETS ARE REQUIRED for all riders of bicycles, skateboards, in-line skates, scooters (motorized or not), motorcycles, etc., REGARDLESS OF YOUR AGE.

Float height should be no higher than 15 feet to clear the streetlights.

Do not move any barricades.

Please be courteous and do not block any driveways to the police and fire departments.

Each participating vendor must provide the Veterans Day Parade Committee with the appropriate insurance certificates or a signed liability waiver.

I want to be in the parade or be a vendor at the park. How much is it?

If you want to be in the parade the cost for entry up to 10 cars is $40.

If you want to be a vendor its $20

If you want to participate in both its $50

Only Veteran service organizations or Veteran Owned Businesses are at no cost

Will the parade be on Veterans Day ?

We understand that some business or school may observe a different day but we stay with the tradition of having the parade the day of November the 11th
